Torikon Polku Path

Torikon Polkuis a 24-km long footpath running along rural roads and wood trails around the Torikko lake.

For guests at Torikko the route starts in Pirttimäki (800 m from the cottages). Follow timber guide boards bearing TorikonPolku inscription. Right from the outset, the crest of Pirttimäki commands breathtaking views onto the Finnish Lake District.

There are those pleasant sensations of strolling in a pinewood and wading through spruce undergrowth. Unassailable rock cliffs intermingle with pacifying lake views, rough country transforms into a plain. Along the path you will find a spot for bonfires and respites in Jokilahti.

Pirttimäki was the site of a 1789 battle during the Russian-Swedish war. You may pay your respects to the fallen at the special memorial.

A lot of pleasure is to be taken from a walking or cycling tour. Your heart muscle will benefit greatly from Nordic Walk poles. We will be happy to demonstrate the techniques to those who think their Nordic Walk abilities are a bit lame.
